I’ve mentioned before that I once lived in a converted two-car garage turned studio apartment. The bathroom was so small that if you stood in the middle and stretched your arms out, you could touch both walls. We’re talking a sink with zero storage underneath, a mirror, a toilet, and a standup shower. That was it.
And yet, I made it work. Not perfectly, but livably. I learned fast that in a bathroom that small, every single inch has a job to do. There’s no room for decoration that doesn’t also function, and there’s no room for clutter at all.
What I discovered in that tiny space is that small bathrooms don’t need more room — they need smarter decisions. The right storage piece, the right mirror, the right hooks on the wall — these are the things that transform how a space feels to live in every day.

An over-the-toilet rack turns that dead zone into shelving for towels, toiletries, and anything else that’s currently taking up counter space. It installs without drilling and comes down just as easily if you move.
Floating Bathroom Shelf
A floating shelf mounted on the wall keeps your counter clear without sacrificing storage. Use it for hand soap, a candle, a small plant, or whatever you reach for every day. It takes up zero floor space and adds a finished, intentional look to an otherwise bare wall.
Shower Caddy
A good shower caddy keeps shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and razors off the floor of your shower and out of the way. If I had to pick just one thing from this list to start with, it would be the over-the-toilet rack. In a small bathroom with no storage, it’s the single change that makes the biggest immediate difference. Everything else can come after.
The bathroom I lived in back in that converted garage was never going to be large. But once I stopped fighting the size and started working with it — using the walls, keeping the counter clear, finding storage that didn’t eat up floor space — it stopped feeling like a problem I had to solve every day. It just became my bathroom.
